WWW: This is a solid start in your first media assessment with potential to reach higher levels next time. In Q4 and Q5 you show knowledge of media terminology and now we need to match that in the higher mark questions.
EBI: You need much more depth and detail in the 8 an 12 mark questions. Annotating the unseen product will help - the more examples you give from the text and more meanings you discuss the higher you will go.

Q1: 0/1
Q2: 1/1
Q3: 2/12
Q4: 2/2
Q5: 3/6
Q6: 3/8
One of my stronger questions is the 1 mark and 2 mark questions because all I had to do was tick a box and do the denotation and connotation of an advert.
One of my weaker questions was the 12 marker because I didn't annotate the advert in detail.
Question 3 - the unseen text 12 mark question:
In this advert Beyonce is making eye contact with the audience. There is a slogan across the middle (‘Catch the fever’) as well as the anchorage text in the bottom right. The advert is dominated by the central image which is provocative and it's designed to illicit a strong reaction from the audience. The central image features Beyonce in a provocative pose wearing a low-cut, revealing dress. This combines with the colour connotations to create a seductive effect. The image also has connotations of class and wealth with the costume appearing to be luxury or designer label, fitting in with the connotations created by the serif typography. The upper-case Serif typography for the text ‘HEAT’ suggests class, style and sophistication to go alongside the suggestive image. The typography for ‘Catch the fever’ and ‘The first fragrance by Beyonce’ is more unusual with a serif style but with connotations of fantasy or magic (perhaps to suggest the mixing of a magical new fragrance). The product name offers connotations of romance and attraction ‘Heat’. ‘Catch the fever’ as a slogan is snappy and links to idea of magic or irresistible attraction created by the fragrance. ‘The first fragrance by Beyonce’ appeals to fans of the artist and suggests an exciting new range of products from a star known for music and acting. Advert is dominated by red – connotations of romance, seduction, sex appeal and fire/heat (the name of the product). Creates a powerful effect on the audience. Colour of product in bottle adds to this effect.
